Gabriela is an Edward R. Murrow award-winning journalist currently living between Spain and the United States and taking on freelance work. Some of her clients include Duolingo, Adonde Media, Patreon, Wine Spectator and others.
Gabriela formerly worked at NPR, where she strategized about how to present NPR's journalism on new and emerging platforms like voice assistants and NPR One. Gabriela was a founding producer of NPR’s daily afternoon podcast, Coronavirus Daily, that launched in response to the pandemic in March 2020. Previously she worked as a producer and director of NPR’s flagship news show Morning Edition and the podcast Up First, as well as on the podcast Hidden Brain. Gabriela’s career at NPR took her to Russia, to cover anti-government protests and to Minneapolis, to cover the days after George Floyd’s death. Gabriela also worked as a fill-in-reporter for NPR’s Newsdesk, covering breaking news from all over the world with bylines on NPR.org and for the national radio newscast.
Over the years, Gabriela has been a part of NPR’s Next Generation Radio Project as a managing editor, digital editor and mentor.
